Connecting Africa’s disconnected
Africa is home to 1.4 billion people, yet the majority remain disconnected. Over 60% lack reliable internet access, a challenge most severe in rural areas where connectivity is weak, unstable, or entirely absent.
At the same time, Africa has an estimated 44 million small and medium businesses, dense, trusted, and embedded in everyday community life. These merchants already serve as critical access points, providing everything from bread to airtime.
Flowteller transforms this existing network into digital infrastructure. We equip local merchants with technology that enables people to access digital services in person, within their own communities, eliminating connectivity barriers, saving time, lowering costs, and unlocking new local economic value.
The Team
We met at a YC backed fintech, where we collaborated closely on building and scaling products within the organization.
During this time, we shared experiences, developing a strong working relationship, aligned vision, and complementary skill sets, which ultimately led to building Flowteller together.
